Meet Maggie Lawson
Maggie is a home decor designer, DIY creator and seasonal decorating expert with more than 28 years of hands-on experience. She is 54, lives in Franklin, Tennessee, and has spent most of her life making decorations by hand.
She grew up in rural Tennessee, helping her grandmother decorate for the seasons with pinecones, leaves, flowers and handmade ornaments — whatever the season offered and the garden could spare. That is still how she works today.
For years she decorated for family, friends, church gatherings and community events. People kept asking how she did it without spending much, and answering that question often enough turned into teaching — affordable decorating ideas anyone could copy at home. Craft Wonder DIY grew out of that.
Her Style
Maggie’s decorating combines rustic charm, modern farmhouse elements and classic seasonal decorating. Neutral foundations, natural textures, seasonal accents — layered so a room feels lived in rather than staged. The materials are deliberately ordinary: mason jars, twine, burlap, wood, greenery, florals, grapevine wreaths and whatever the season brings.
Welcoming, Not Perfect
A home should tell the story of the people who live there. Maggie believes handmade decorations create memories that store-bought decor often cannot, and that a slightly uneven bow or a hand-cut shape is part of the charm rather than a mistake to fix. Projects here are meant to be practical, affordable and genuinely achievable.
